The Hampton Inn & Suites Portland Tigard offers a convenient location near the highway and local restaurants, frequently praised for its comfortable beds and friendly staff. However, recent reviews highlight issues with cleanliness, slow service, and a decline in maintenance standards, particularly regarding breakfast replenishment and room upkeep. Several guests reported issues with broken amenities, stains, and lack of responsiveness from management.

We were traveling down Highway 101 along the coast and just needed to find a place for the night. We happened to run across this one, and the price was right, so we stayed. One thing we liked right away was that there were several restaurants and bars nearby, making it easy to grab dinner without driving far. We ended up choosing a small local bar and restaurant right in town, and it turned out to be a great evening. The hotel itself was very easy to find and close to the beach. One thing to note is that there’s a very wide strip between the parking areas and the ocean itself, so it’s a bit of a walk out to the water. While looking around on Google Maps, I noticed a few beach access points. After zooming in closer, I could actually see vehicle tracks and even a few vehicles driving on the sand. That was all it took for us. We jumped in the Jeep and headed down onto the beach. The beach was incredibly wide and had a really fun atmosphere. A lot of locals were out there picnicking, and several groups had bonfires going, which completely changed the vibe of the night. It almost felt like a whole second adventure after checking into the hotel. The biggest surprise of all was running across a whale that had washed up on the beach. Seeing something that massive up close was unreal and definitely became the highlight of the stop. The hotel itself was quiet during the time of year we visited. Everyone working there seemed genuinely happy and friendly, and we had no issues at all. It looked like the place had been remodeled at some point. Nothing overly fancy, but the room was very nice and more than adequate for what we needed. We had planned on trying the free breakfast in the morning, but we wanted to get back on the road early and they were just beginning to set everything up, so we ended up passing on it. From what we saw, though, it looked like it would have been quite good. You may want to check some of the other reviews for more details on the breakfast itself. I would definitely stay here again. Just keep in mind that if you have kids and are planning a full beach day, the tides can really change what the beach is like, so it can be a bit hit or miss depending on the timing.

We've stayed here twice now. Both visits were excellent! Super helpful and friendly staff. Clean spacious rooms with big comfy bed! We always sleep well here. Free breakfast is yummy they've got hot stuff like sausages and eggs. Nice coffee bar available all day. We used the swimming pool and hot tub well kept. Good location not to far from freeway. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Huge mall less than 10 minutes down the road. We will be back!

Rooms were nice but no one came to clean them except when I asked on Tuesday because we needed towels and tp. We stayed a week from Saturday to Sunday. I was told they clean every other day. Everything else was great. Decent breakfast and 24 hr coffee bar.

My father (72) went down for breakfast around 6:30AM. He was sitting eating his breakfast in his pajamas, and one of the front desk employees came over to him and told him there was odor coming from him, and began questioning if he was actually staying at the hotel. He was confused at first, and came to realize she was accusing him of being a homeless person off the street who came in to get a free breakfast. Just bizarre. He was further insulted about his appearance and smell, as she didn't believe he was staying there. He didn't even smell, we don't know what she was referring to, and even if he did, who in their right mind would comment on it. People smell all the time without being a breakfast seeking homeless person. He lost his appetite after being judged up and down, came back up to the room in shock, changed into jeans and a nicer shirt, and went back down to see if she approved of his new outfit. It's really sad that he felt he had to do that, and a complete fail on how treat your paying guests at a hotel. A couple minor other things were we had to change rooms after check in because our toilet was broken, and the shampoo was empty in the new room. All around no good. No refund or voucher was given. We were 'guaranteed that it won't happen again', but no worry, we will never be staying there again.

For budget hotels, this location is a great option! It’s new, clean, has a pool, and has free breakfast. Also it’s close to the freeway so you can get downtown quickly. Large parking lot. Spacious.

Quite surprised and disappointed, I stayed here a week and never received room service once and never received clean towels ever. But there was a note with a QR code when I arrived where I could leave a tip for the cleaning team if I wanted to. Nothank you. And if I was supposed to request service or clean towels I was never told to. For the price, I think I will try another hotel the next time I am in town. Also, for light sleepers, the heaters rumbled tremendously right before the shut off after reaching the temp. I did mention the rumbling to the front desk. Nothing was done about it. It woke me up many times a night.

Location was perfect, parking was easy since I didn’t need to move my car the 4 days I was there for a conference. Plenty of public spaces to hang out away from my roommate that week. Hot tub was insanely too hot and caused me to turn beet red within ten seconds. And it’s all ages all the time so I walked into screaming kids at 10p on a Tuesday. Booooo lol the food in the morning was good considering. Coffee mehhhh but drinkable. Morning staff at check in was very rude, then again, the person I was with was rude back to her. It was weird. The evening staff was fantastic! The breakfast people too! Housekeeping did well. Just the one person at the front desk in the mornings lol anywho thanks!

I was super excited to stay here with my family. Everything was going well until I checked my bank account. I ended up paying almost $700.00 for two nights because they don't know how to train their front desk employees. I had told her I was already charged for both nights when I booked the room. She said no you were not charged and still charged me again!! You know what's worst that they're quick to "accidently'' Charge you but takes one week to get the money back. You guys need to do better with communication with your team members. The reason I don't recommend is because they don't fix the problem, they just tell you to wait to get your money back and lie to you when you ask where is the manager?? Excuse me?? Employees take no accountability my trip was ruined thanks Hampton Inn & Suites Portland
