The Hampton Inn & Suites Portland Tigard offers a generally comfortable stay with recent renovations, boasting a convenient location near the I-5 freeway and a pool. However, recent reviews highlight significant concerns regarding service, cleanliness, and operational issues, including staff rudeness, maintenance problems, and billing errors.
My father (72) went down for breakfast around 6:30AM. He was sitting eating his breakfast in his pajamas, and one of the front desk employees came over to him and told him there was odor coming from him, and began questioning if he was actually staying at the hotel. He was confused at first, and came to realize she was accusing him of being a homeless person off the street who came in to get a free breakfast. Just bizarre. He was further insulted about his appearance and smell, as she didn't believe he was staying there. He didn't even smell, we don't know what she was referring to, and even if he did, who in their right mind would comment on it. People smell all the time without being a breakfast seeking homeless person. He lost his appetite after being judged up and down, came back up to the room in shock, changed into jeans and a nicer shirt, and went back down to see if she approved of his new outfit. It's really sad that he felt he had to do that, and a complete fail on how treat your paying guests at a hotel. A couple minor other things were we had to change rooms after check in because our toilet was broken, and the shampoo was empty in the new room. All around no good. No refund or voucher was given. We were 'guaranteed that it won't happen again', but no worry, we will never be staying there again.
For budget hotels, this location is a great option! It’s new, clean, has a pool, and has free breakfast. Also it’s close to the freeway so you can get downtown quickly. Large parking lot. Spacious.
Quite surprised and disappointed, I stayed here a week and never received room service once and never received clean towels ever. But there was a note with a QR code when I arrived where I could leave a tip for the cleaning team if I wanted to. Nothank you. And if I was supposed to request service or clean towels I was never told to. For the price, I think I will try another hotel the next time I am in town. Also, for light sleepers, the heaters rumbled tremendously right before the shut off after reaching the temp. I did mention the rumbling to the front desk. Nothing was done about it. It woke me up many times a night.
Location was perfect, parking was easy since I didn’t need to move my car the 4 days I was there for a conference. Plenty of public spaces to hang out away from my roommate that week. Hot tub was insanely too hot and caused me to turn beet red within ten seconds. And it’s all ages all the time so I walked into screaming kids at 10p on a Tuesday. Booooo lol the food in the morning was good considering. Coffee mehhhh but drinkable. Morning staff at check in was very rude, then again, the person I was with was rude back to her. It was weird. The evening staff was fantastic! The breakfast people too! Housekeeping did well. Just the one person at the front desk in the mornings lol anywho thanks!
I was super excited to stay here with my family. Everything was going well until I checked my bank account. I ended up paying almost $700.00 for two nights because they don't know how to train their front desk employees. I had told her I was already charged for both nights when I booked the room. She said no you were not charged and still charged me again!! You know what's worst that they're quick to "accidently'' Charge you but takes one week to get the money back. You guys need to do better with communication with your team members. The reason I don't recommend is because they don't fix the problem, they just tell you to wait to get your money back and lie to you when you ask where is the manager?? Excuse me?? Employees take no accountability my trip was ruined thanks Hampton Inn & Suites Portland
This hotel was very clean and comfortable. We were very pleased with the comfort of the bed. Great night's sleep! The staff were kind and accommodating. A wonderful experience. We will be back!
Location, Location, Location. Love the easy on/off access to the I-5 Freeway. Also, the abundance of nearby eateries within a 10 minute radius. Since this Hampton Inn is relatively new, the property and rooms still has that fresh look without being outdated. With Digital Key access, I rarely have any interaction with the front desk and the Breakfast Hosts are usually efficient and cordial.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Hampton Inn should be ashamed of the experience we had. First, the Jacuzzi was broken, and the staff tried to convince us that the pool was “nicer.” When we went into the pool, I stepped directly on feces at the bottom—there were several pieces floating and sitting there. We immediately complained, and only then did they shut the pool down. On top of that, there were no towels available at the pool until much later when they finally brought some. Later that evening, the hallways outside our room began to smell overwhelmingly like marijuana. I called down to the office because I had a child with me, and the smell was so strong we were coughing. Nothing was done about it. At checkout, the hotel was so short-staffed that we had to wait until the person working finished getting their free breakfast before they came back to check us out. Completely unprofessional. The photos of this hotel look nice and it seems quiet, but this was by far the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Between the broken amenities, unsanitary pool, drug smells, and poor staffing, I would like a full refund for this unacceptable experience.
This is about the fourth time we have stayed here and noticed a remarkable decline in service and just a general apathy for maintaining an attractive place to stay. For example, the soap container in the shower had been knocked off the wall. Why didn’t housekeeping report that and get it fixed? Bigger issue was the breakfast area. No juice (didn’t stock for a holiday weekend), items like creamer pods, coffee cups, plasticware, etc., weren’t being restocked. There was one trash receptacle that was overflowing both days we were there that guests then had to gently stack and balance trash on top - literally a foot high. No one took it upon themselves to get it emptied or put another trash container in there? Tables not wiped down, food smeared under the tables (from kids, I assume) that was then tracked through the lobby. No one took any initiative to sweep that up? Also not an attractive look was shutting down the food area at the stroke of 10 am, turning customers away who were 2 minutes late, then watching the staff come in and leave with plates of food. This was not the way it was when it opened. Hopefully, it can get back to that and caring about the guest experience.
Everything was great until it was breakfast time. Not sure if they were under staffed or what but the person that was in charge of replenishing the food was not only very slow in refilling food trays or drinks but my wife caught her on the phone at one point while other people were bringing the lack of replenishing to her attention. Also a note to whoever is in charge of the breakfast area. It would be wise to move the waffle maker closer to the edge of the serving area and have a line away from the counter so that don't get in the way of others trying to serve themselves eggs, sausage etc on the counter in the back area. It was a complete cluster. Never had this issue at other Hampton Inn.
