The room was nice and clean. Updated TV and a very well functioning air conditioner. The lack of a pool was a downer, but we knew that when we picked it. Not a pet friendly hotel and got a little attitude about our service dog. But they quickly backed off. Parking is limited.

This hotel does not have fully functioning operations. Our AC unit did not work whatsoever. We were out and about until late and didn’t notice that the AC unit wasn’t actually cooling while we were away. We called the front desk to only get a very frazzled employee - who honestly felt like they shouldn’t be left alone to make decisions. It took over a half hour to get a resolution of letting us sleep in another room. We booked a king size bed and were given a room with 2 queens to sleep in and told to only use one bed to keep housekeeping duties to a minimum. We returned to our original room in the morning to get ready for the day. Unfortunately, the room was still extremely hot. Taking a shower was like showering in the humid heat. You went in sweaty and came out sticky. This set off the fire alarm in our room. This is an annoying sound, especially while you are already uncomfortable. We ended up having to skip the breakfast as we needed to cool down in air conditioning from our vehicle and had to purchase breakfast elsewhere, adding additional unnecessary expenses. I asked for at least a partial refund at checkout and was told that is not possible since I booked with both points and money. Exterior card readers from parking also did not work, so you had to walk around the building to the front doors. Very disappointed in Holiday Inn. I followed up via email with the General Manager, Jennifer Shaw, and ended up being refunded for less than a third of my stay. This is not an adequate reimbursement, in my opinion. We have stayed at multiple IHG branded locations across the world and the lack of accountability from this location is one of the worst.

So the hotel was good. It was quite even with a baseball team coming in for the night. However, I would not recommend eating dinner at the restaurant. I spent about $60.00 for a hamburger, which wasn't cooked through with fries that tasted like they had been cooked in oil that had been used for fish, and a southwest salad with chicken that looked like they just chopped some lettuce, threw some black beans on it with some processed grated cheese out of a bag, croutons, and a few slices of avocado. The grilled chicken was a hockey puck. It was just awful. The glass of soda had flaky things floating in it too. The waitress addressed us like we had interrupted her evening and was short with us and didn't check in on us at all. I didn't feel comfortable talking to them about the problems, so I paid the bill and drove my kid to a fast-food restaurant so she could get a cooked burger. I had planned on having breakfast there the next morning but with the outcome from dinner, I opted not to eat there and waste $16.00 per person on another poor experience.

I won't be staying at this hotel again next time I visit this area. The couch in my room was horribly stained, which made it look dirty, the bedspread had what looked like a blood stain on it, when I lifted the toilet lid up, there was hair on the toilet seat, and it looked like there was a drop of pink fluid on the toilet paper. The outlet next to my bed didn't work. I didn't realize that until I woke up and realized my cellphone hadn't charged overnight. The front desk staff at check-in were pleasant but the person at the front desk when I checked out was busy doing something with paperwork and looked irritated that she had to deal with approaching the desk to check out.

Good hotel, but weirdly dated hearing system in the room. There is a large unit the you can set for heat or cool, but other than that, no control over the temperature. We set the temperature at 66° but it ignored that and was probably high 70s or low 80s by the morning. Also very noisy. Weird lighting as well - no bedside controls to turn the lights off, you have to walk around to each light individually to turn off. My side of the bed had no electric socket to charge my phone. Nice reception staff, decent breakfast options. Very clean, very comfortable.

Cons: The room was dirty upon arrival. The bed had a large brown stain on it. Three towels were left in the bathroom, but one appeared to have leftover makeup or food on it. The bathroom overall did not look clean—there were grease marks all over the door. When I went to shower, the tub clogged within the first 20 seconds, and the water rose to my ankles. It honestly felt like the rooms are not properly cleaned and that items are simply refolded and reset. Additionally, we were disappointed to find there was no spa, even though the listing photos showed a pool and hot tub. Pros: The front desk staff were friendly, and the free breakfast option was decent. Update: I am slowly in touch with the GM of this chain and am pleased with their efforts to make things right.

Had an amazing experience staying at this hotel. Great warm breakfast with fresh coffee. Amazing service and staff. Great value for the money.

If your interested the Hillsborough area it's a good choice. Food is good. The rooms are not the quietest we have found. Has the feel of a older hotel that's been well kept. The people above us beat around alot. Will go back. It's cheaper on the weekend we found.

Everything about this Holiday Inn Express Portland West was awesome. (Room was spacious and neat/clean, shower was great with water pressure and shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The room had a mini fridge. Free breakfast was included and the automated pancake machine was making the softest pancakes. The fitness facility was a bonus and the whole place was clean and well organized) We would stay here again and again every time we come to Portland. ??
