The Hilton Garden Inn – Portland/Beaverton receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the friendly staff and convenient location. However, recurring issues include inconsistent service, cleanliness concerns, and problems with hotel facilities like elevators and lack of responsiveness from management. A significant number of guests reported issues with breakfast offerings and a lack of attention to detail in room maintenance. Notably, several reviews cite incidents of lost property and a lack of support from hotel staff, leading to a generally disappointing experience.
I just checked out in tears. I stayed in this hotel for a few nights, I had to extend my reservation and they had to put me in another room. Unfortunately, I left my jewelry box in the room I previously stayed in. As soon as I noticed my jewelry box was missing I went downstairs to inform the front desk. They couldn’t do anything for me because house keepers were gone for the day, and a guest had already checked in. The girl in the front desk said they couldn’t do anything until the next day (my jewelry box wasn’t on plain sight, but it wasn’t hidden either) I hate to point fingers, I have a feeling the house keeper took my jewelry box. My jewelry box went missing in a matter of hours, and I understand is my fault for not being careful, but. I thought house keepers are supposed to clean everything after each guest leaves, and return whatever is left to lost and founds. Seems like someone in this hotel lacks of honesty, and it’s sad, because I like to think I’m safe and my belongings are safe in the property. I did make a police report, and most likely nothing is going to happen.
I recently stayed at this location and ate at the restaurant/bar. The Chef, Brain, made a phenomenal Salmon fish and chips plate. It was so good, the batter had the perfect texture and the salmon was so flavorful and moist. Probably the best fish and chips I have had to-date. Complements to Chef Brian.
Spacious and bright room. There is no pool. Free parking. Gym was very clean. Safe to stay for families. The whole time we stayed here,we did not smell any unpleasant smell(smoking cigarettes/marijuana),that is nice if you have kids with you. All workers here were very nice and thoughtful. Thank you.
During our stay, no staff member checked in to see whether we needed fresh towels, housekeeping, or any room service. We felt completely unattended throughout our visit. The breakfast experience was especially disappointing. Although breakfast was charged separately, the options were extremely limited for us. Nearly all items in the buffet contained ham, pork, or beef, with no consideration for guests who do not eat meat. The only items available to us were bread and butter. When I raised this concern with the staff member present in the breakfast area, she simply said, “I apologize,” without offering any meaningful alternative. Later, we were served what appeared to be leftover cheese omelette from the previous day. There were no basic options such as pancakes, waffles, or boiled eggs — items that are commonly available even at small motels. Additionally, the absence of a swimming pool was another letdown. Overall, the service, food quality, and amenities did not meet even basic expectations. Based on this experience, I would not consider staying at Hilton Garden Inn again. I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously and make improvements to ensure better service and inclusivity for future guests.
I am new to this sales territory. Found a great spot to call my home base here in Portland. Great conversation and people hanging out at the restaurant and bar. Brian the bartender was awesome to interact with. You can tell he loves what he does. He called many customers by their first name and made sure the customer was happy. Will definitely be hanging out here more on business travel
My car was hit in their parking lot and they did not want to accept any responsibility. It was a hit and run. They admitted that there are no cameras anywhere in the exterior of the property. The hotel appears inviting on first impression but you begin to notice that the hotel is almost empty. To note, this is a very busy area and all the other hotels are booked. The manager, Paula, is not helpful in the least. After acknowledging the damage to my vehicle, she did not offer anything in the way of points, or even a partial stay credit. The hotel is very expensive yet dated and the back parking area is filthy. There is trash and dog feces everywhere. We noted this after observing the premises before we left. I will never stay in another Hilton hotel again. I was a Diamond tier member. I am canceling my membership permanently. There are much nicer and newer hotels in the area for a fraction of the price of this outdated Hilton hotel. Experiencing damage to my car was distressing and the fact that they showed no concern whatsoever added to the disappointment and frustration at a hotel where you would expect to be treated with interest and concern, none of which I experienced at this location. DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
Perfect for the whole family. Lobby area was spacious and has enough seating for family to hang out and play board games. Breakfast and service were great. We enjoyed the bar too. Rooms were clean. Jacuzzi and pool area were well maintained. We were able to book 2 adjacent rooms with door access to each other so kids can run around between 2 rooms.
Very nice hotel. Here are my complaints hearing people talk loudly. Other than that no bad things. Julius at the front desk was nice and very helpful. The restraints was nice to. Buffet is on the weekends and Resteraunt is on weekdays. Would recommend.
I want to give a special thanks to Julius who works at the front desk! My company placed me at this hotel for a training event and I happen to have dropped my ID and hadn’t realized until I made it back home. Julius Remembered me when I called in to check to see if I had left it there and was so friendly and kind and was even willing to mail it back to me. He even Went as far as wrapping my ID and several pieces of paper so that nobody could tell what was Inside and left me a smile smiley face! I am beyond grateful and feel like with how amazing the customer service was I would highly recommend staying here. I think the food is pretty delicious too! Why is it like that? I don’t like that?
The Hilton Garden Inn in Portland is overall a solid place to stay. The rooms are large and surprisingly quiet, which I appreciated. Temperature control could be better, though — it’s a little hit-or-miss. Avoid rooms 146, 246, 346, and 446 unless you enjoy staring directly at a garbage area. Every other room I’ve had has been much better. The staff really does try to take care of you, and breakfast (paid) is decent with enough options to start your day. Good places to work outside the room, and the gym is generously equipped compared to similar hotels. Not perfect, but reliable — I’d stay again, just not in the “garbage-view wing.
