The Element by Westin Portland Beaverton offers a modern and spacious experience with amenities like a kitchen sink, pet-friendly policies, and a well-equipped gym. Recent reviews highlight a generally positive stay, but significant issues with guest privacy, unresolved WiFi problems, and inconsistent service have emerged.
This hotel was really nice! Not too far from the city. Loved that they were pet friendly. They did charge an extra $50/night for a pet fee which i feel is kinda high. Lots of parking. Great staff. Loved that our room came with a kitchen sink and dish-wear.
Good location, easily accessible to local restaurants and attractions. We stayed there for a couple of days for our visit to Portland. Would prefer they serve hot breakfast items buffet style rather than the omelette station that people have to wait to order their eggs. Good if you go early when not many people.
We were having a crummy night (our place flooded) and Sharem at the front desk was so kind and welcoming, she really made a stressful night easy. Thank you for the wonderful room!
Great hotel. Has everything you. Eed. Very roomy, nice decor and very clean.
The WiFi was so slow we couldn’t get any work done — unacceptable for any hotel, especially as Titanium Elite members who are supposed to receive high-speed internet as a perk. We were told to call the tech department ourselves and waited on hold for over an hour before being hung up on. When we told Stephanie (the Assistant GM), she said staff should’ve handled that — not us — and said she’d follow up with tech and engineering. She called once to say engineering found no issue, asked if the problem continued (we said yes), and said she’d follow up again. She never did. The issue remained unresolved. Then came two serious privacy violations. First, housekeeping knocked — but immediately opened the door without giving us any time to respond. My partner was in the middle of getting dressed, and I didn’t even have time to walk to the door before they entered. The next day, a maintenance worker entered unannounced without knocking or identifying himself. We reported both incidents to Marissa, the manager on duty, and told her our stay had already been unacceptable. She said there were no notes on our account and seemed unaware of any prior issues. We explained everything, including our communication with Stephanie. Marissa promised two additional nights of compensation. What’s most disappointing is that Marissa’s name appears in multiple other reviews — all describing the same rude, dismissive behavior we experienced. Marriott is clearly aware of these ongoing complaints and has chosen not to act. That says everything about the standards being upheld at this property. Later that day, Stephanie emailed confirming only the two nights for the WiFi — with no mention of the privacy violations or the additional compensation Marissa promised. No one followed up. Internal communication was clearly lacking, and accountability even more so.To make things worse, the room wasn’t clean. Paper towels we used on the floor came up black — clearly not properly cleaned. This was especially concerning as my partner has an autoimmune condition. Breakfast was also wrong nearly every day, even though the same simple order was repeated back each time. We escalated through Marriott’s Elite Concierge and Case Resolution team. That process failed too — compensation was incomplete, promised follow-ups never happened, and our request for a phone call was ignored. We’ll never return — and strongly advise others to avoid this location. No guest should have to experience what we did.
We stayed in this hotel just for one night, but we were impressed by its modernity. It may have some weird features like automatic light in the bathroom, but overall, it’s the best hotel we have ever stayed in. And the coffee machine!
it's night 1 of 3 that I'm here for work. My room is next to a stairwell that HAS to have a generator or something in it because my entire room has been vibrating for 3 hours. I asked to move but I was told no rooms left. edit: I was able to change rooms my second day. This room is 100x better, completely quiet, and laid out much better. everyone at the front desk is super nice, The gym is amazing, The pool is great, but man room 433 is ..not good.
My family and I just stayed there as we had doctors appointments in Portland. We the room was clean and the beds super comfortable. The water pressure was good, and I really liked that it had a full size fridge in the room. Room service was great and changed out the bedding the 2 days we were there. My family and I liked that the pool was heated and clean. I think this has become our new place to stay when we have to go to Portland. The only thing I can say negative is that I found no way to redeem my points to stay here. The staff and service make up for that, they were amazing.
The cleaning people are at least very sweet and the hotel is newly renovated. That’s about where it ends. - I was sick with COVID however apparently it’s only elements policy to clean at least twice a week in a room. However, other hotels are fine and EVEN Marriott hotels don’t all do this. - The hotel is nice until you start using it. It’s very less convenient. The lights are automatic in the bathroom so when you are mid shower it goes off so you have to open your shower door to make them turn back on, you can’t really control the Ac it only goes down to 68 and high up to 74, and even when it goes down to 68 it doesn’t feel like other hotels 68 you are still hot, the lack of space (for long term guest) is poor, you have a much better time at a residence inn, a Hilton across the street (homewood suites) etc., the bed frame is so inconvenient when you get off you need to make sure you don’t scrape your leg - the lady lacks customer service Marissa. I have seen several other guest complain about her as well. She lacks professionalism and if she is a manager I suggest she gets trained by her other employees who do a splendid job. - breakfast is at least nice and the kitchen staff is always the sweetest. Marissa must just be on a power trip, since the cleaning staff, the front desk and the kitchen staff are all excellent. I would love to stay again but as a titanium elite member about to be in the next tier, I highly doubt it and suggest look elsewhere.
